We are Three!

Beatha Coaching is three years old! I officially launched the practice on 1st October 2022 after twelve years in academia as PhD candidate, RA, and TF Lecturer. When I set up the practice I had a handful of academic clients (some of whom are still with me!) and my freshly minted coaching certification. Three years later I’m now also a yoga teacher, I’ve trained in CBT and too many other little trainings to own up to with a straight face, I get to work regularly with a lovely group of academic women through Beatha Coaching Community, and have collaborated with the incredible Rebekah Ballagh over at Journey to Wellness. I didn’t anticipate ANY of this three years ago. That in itself has taught me not to over plan or to restrict my options but to flex as I go and be open to change. I am so glad that Beatha Coaching isn’t still only offering (or attempting to offer, given the current financial situation in HE) workshops and coaching inside universities. As I head into my fourth year of practice I am delighted to be bringing my new course for ECRs together, but also to be exploring how I can offer coaching support more widely to other high-functioning women in challenging workplaces. Thank you for being here over the initial phase of Beatha Coaching, and I hope you will stay with me as we move into a new year and a new season.

Flourishing as an ECR has LAUNCHED. The introductory module is now live and available to access for participants, and for the next ten weeks a new module will go live each Sunday. We’re covering topics like: Being a beginner again, Adjusting to departmental culture, Staying connected to your research, Having boundaries as an ECR, and Dealing with Disappointment. You can find out more about what the course contains, what it covers, and how to get access here. Or grab a cuppa and take ten minutes to watch the introductory video now:

I’m offering the course for a discounted price of £199 until the end of the year – it’s lifetime access and that also covers the live drop-in sessions for twelve months. From January the price will go up to £399 so if you think this material would support you or any friends or colleagues do consider joining in this autumn. If you have any questions please reply to this email or leave a comment. And if you know anyone you think would benefit from the course do send the website link on to them.

The new quarter calendar for Beatha Coaching Community is now available. This autumn we’ll be meeting for a workshop on ‘Surviving Survival Mode’ and a guided journaling session, and welcoming nutritionist Miranda Singh from Better Bites Nutrition to talk about how to care for our health when we’re stressed. Members also have weekly access to a co-writing session, and to monthly group coaching calls where they can raise anything for discussion and support. There is also an archive of past workshops to access when you need more input, and reduced cost coaching with me. The Community is a really beautiful supportive space for women in academia from PhD through to mid-career and we have members all over the world now. If you would like a one month trial to see if it’s a good fit for you just reply to the newsletter.

Refresh Your Writing is Back!

The three-day virtual retreat with creative writing workshops, co-writing, coaching, and a week of additional writing prompts will run 30 Oct – 1 Nov IF we have enough people signed up. The retreat really needs a minimum of six participants to work so if you think you want to come PLEASE let me know now, and I’ll confirm that the retreat will go ahead (and you can book) once I have enough people signed up. The full retreat schedule is up here and our theme will be seasonal – playing with autumnal imagery, transitions, ghost stories, hero narratives, and encountering the wyrd… I hope you can join me.

As always, if I can support you with yoga classes, coaching, workshops, or mental health content please let me know. My current prices and packages for coaching are here, remember I offer coaching on a sliding scale based on your means. Below you will be find a little freebee, a yoga class from Mind-Body-Movement that might be lovely to wind-down to later.

Thank you for being here!
