A long overdue update Hi everyone, Thank you so much for bearing with me over the last few months, I know I have been shockingly lax with my updates in 2026. At the start of February I made a biggish change and separated my yoga business from my coaching practice, which meant a whole new…

Dear friends Hello from 2026. Only seven days old and already treating us like an overwhelmed toddler throwing its toys everywhere. I hope you are safe and warm wherever you are and able to hold on a little to the restfulness of midwinter. I am back at work seeing clients today after a gentle warmup…

  • We are Three!

Beatha Coaching is three years old! I officially launched the practice on 1st October 2022 after twelve years in academia as PhD candidate, RA, and TF Lecturer. When I set up the practice I had a handful of academic clients (some of whom are still with me!) and my freshly minted coaching certification. Three years…

Autumn with Beatha Coaching Well, it’s been a while. Summer feels like it’s already fast receding in the rear-view mirror with cool winds and rain arriving here in Scotland and the leaves starting to change colour. It has been a long hot couple of months though, I hope you survived it and found ways to…

Burnout in academia AND 24 hours to claim early bird on the Summer Coaching Programme Dear friends, It’s hard to believe we are half-way through the year, but this weekend marks the summer solstice and all that that entails – heat, light, endless nights, and the imperceptible beginnings of our shift away from the sun.…

…just a day late… Dear friends I was back in my beloved St Abbs at the end of February and it was just starting to feel like the edge of spring. Now, a month later, the garden is flourishing, there are new leaves on the apple trees, and I’m about to head out for a…

Dear friends last night I spotted the first blossoms on a local cherry tree, and this morning a cluster of daffodils in a sheltered area of the park. Spring is (finally) upon us. How has the winter been for you? Are you welcoming the longer days and milder weather? Or do you feel like you…

Coaching & CBT for women with creative and career ambitions who want to end the struggle with burnout

Supporting academics to research with care

A nervous system primed for constant activity and reactivity has a hard time slowing down. And yes, all those somatic tools and practices are great, I teach them to my clients all the time. But if you are approaching burnout you don’t need more things to think about or to feel anxious about forgetting. If you can’t take a day off without overwhelming mental noise and physical agitation, you’re not alone. When we live in survival mode for long periods of time it becomes habitual for our nervous system, and walking away from the undone to-do list feels deeply unsafe. You might even know at a deeper level that a rest will help you to work more productively when you go back, but your mind and body just can’t relax. I don’t believe that women need to sacrifice their wellbeing for a demanding job, nor do I believe that having a balanced lifestyle should be antithetical to doing work that you love. I coach women with creative and career ambitions who want to end the struggle with burnout. A little explanation for yesterday’s reel. I coach highly productive women who want to create and to advance in their careers but keep landing in cycles of burnout.
