A long overdue update

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for bearing with me over the last few months, I know I have been shockingly lax with my updates in 2026. At the start of February I made a biggish change and separated my yoga business from my coaching practice, which meant a whole new website to create and curate, as well as taking on some additional in person classes in the Stirling area. Most of my marketing energy has been going into mind-body-movement.com (where you can now find all my on-demand yoga and live class links, by the way). But Beatha Coaching is still thriving, and now that the yoga business is more settled I am looking forward to getting back to developing this platform again.
Just last week we welcomed Rebekah Ballagh back to the community for a masterclass on parts work (Internal Family Systems Therapy). Becks introduced us to her model of the five archetypal protector parts (the appeaser, the anticipator, the achiever, the suppressor, and the inner critic) and talked us through beginning to gently and compassionately work with these patterns. You can find out more about Becks and Journey to Wellness here.
Next month we have a guest masterclass with Paula Burns, local artist and coach, who is coming in to explain the link between creativity and resilience. The workshop will tap into our right brain with some creative exercises, and give a basic understanding of the four pillars of true resilience. Non-members are welcome to join this workshop for a small drop-in fee. Or join the membership yourself – three price bands based on career stage and a gorgeous supportive community of women in academia, meeting for co-writing, workshops, and monthly coaching. It’s the best thing I do!

Writing retreats this summer
Writing in Hard Times is back. This ten week summer writing programme was a big hit last year so I am offering it again, starting on Monday 6th July. Over the ten weeks participants get weekly writing prompts to help them overcome creative blocks, deepen their authentic writing practice, and find new ways to tackle hard subjects. They also have access to a weekly co-writing hour to drop in, chat and write together. And three group coaching calls for deeper work and questions. I’m offering the whole programme for £125 this year to make it financially accessible. Ten weeks allows you to write consistently and make progress on a substantial piece of work, in community with other writers, whilst also allowing for breaks and holidays without getting derailed. Participants should be able to finish up the summer feeling like they have made the most of the break in teaching, and more prepared with strategies to carry them into the new academic year.

In the meantime, if you would like a day of creative play and connection a bit sooner, join us next Monday 22nd July for a Midsummer Writing Retreat. Starting at 9.30 with some gentle yoga (optional of course), we’ll then spend an hour playing with creative prompts before quiet co-writing on our own projects. After lunch some mindful journaling and breathwork will take us into a second co-writing session, finishing with a chance to share reflections on the day, and an optional gentle yoga class at 6pm to wrap up the retreat.
These retreat days are always so popular with my community members. They take us out of our writing normal, offer some different fuel and inspiration, and refresh our practices. Hopefully next Monday will be a lovely day and we can celebrate the Midsummer together outside for at least some of it!
If you would like to join the retreat you can book in as a guest for £40 full price / £25 discount (no questions asked) and treat yourself and your writing. Find out more here or book!
1-2-1 Coaching
Another big demand on my time since the start of the year has been additional trainings to support my coaching practice. I am working toward a Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling, an applied branch of counselling for those already in helping professions like coaching. Whilst my basic approach and focus won’t change, with this diploma I will be able to take on a greater range of topics in coaching sessions, and do more emotion-focused work. I am also finishing my certification in Somatic Healing techniques with IAYT, a coaching approach that emphasises body-brain connections and support for chronic pain and illness sufferers.
In the meantime I continue to offer workplace coaching on a session-by-session basis and through packages. My coaching work is particularly supportive for those of you who are used to being very high-functioning but are starting to notice the toll that takes. Think stress impacts on the body, creative blocks, anxiety, and burnout. I work with my clients to firstly re-establish your baseline of health and nervous system regulation, before developing a toolkit for continuing to work productively within a high-pressure workplace. Summer is the ideal time to do this work, so that you can be ready when September rolls around again.
If you would like to explore what coaching might offer you, do get in touch using the form below. I have a range of coaching options listed on my website, and I offer discounts and payment schemes.
That’s it from me for now, but I will be back soon (I promise). Let me know what you would like to write some posts about over the summer, and I would love to hear from you too. How has this year been, and what are you excited about at the moment? And don’t forget you can always connect with me on instagram – it’s the only social media space I am reliably engaged with!
